We provide many exciting services that will leave you with a bright, white smile on your face!
Digital Radiographs
We now use the Dexis digital xray system. It is a highly effective aid in diagnosing and treatment planning your dental health during your visit. It also allows us to use less radiation to capture the xray image, reducing your exposure by at least thirty percent. Because we don’t have to develop your xrays the old fashioned way with film and chemicals, you are in the dental chair a much shorter amount of time and we are more environmentally friendly.
Radiation free cavity detection
We also have the ability to see cavities before it can be seen on xrays. Using our Dexis Carivu, we transilluminate the tooth making the enamel appear transparent. Porous lesions trap and absorb the light allowing us to see any cavities that might appear suspicious on an xray. When used together, a radiograph and a transilluminated image provides a comprehensive picture of your tooth’s health, allowing us to decide when and how we should treat the tooth.
Dental Laser services
What are Dental Lasers? A dental laser uses light energy to target specific treatment areas, leaving surrounding tissues unaffected. This allows us to perform very precise procedures, sealing off blood vessels and nerve endings. As a result, patients experience less bleeding, swelling and post-operative discomfort using very little or no anesthetic.
How are Lasers used in Dentistry?
LASER CLEANINGS—There is a direct link between inflammation of the gums and life threatening systemic disease. When the gum tissue that surrounds your teeth becomes compromised due to inflammation, the tissues become a portal of entry for the bacteria to the rest of your body.
*Laser Bacterial Reduction (LBR) destroys bacteria that cause inflammation. Just by circling the teeth with the laser light, we can drastically reduce the harmful bacteria from billions down to hundreds within seconds. The bacterial level will slowly grow back towards their original level within weeks; however, with proper home care, you can allow the area to heal during this time. We recommend LBR treatment with all your regular dental cleanings.
*Laser Assisted Periodontal Therapy (LAPT) is a conservative, non-surgical treatment for treating periodontal disease. People with healthy gums have pockets that measure 3mm or less and are able to maintain healthy gums with proper home care. However, once these pockets become 4mm or deeper, it becomes difficult to clean and maintain them. Colonies of bacteria thrive at the base of these pockets causing gum inflammation and infection. After a deep cleaning (Scaling and Root Planing) to remove tartar and periodontal bacteria, we utilize the dental laser to selectively remove any diseased or infected tissues lining the pockets around your teeth. Often times, the dental laser can help regain lost attachment and shrink up the periodontal pockets to normal and maintainable depths. LAPT is a specialized gum treatment that is performed over multiple visits during deep cleaning appointments to facilitate healing and shrinking of the pockets to normal and maintainable depths.
LASER GUM RESHAPING AND OTHER SOFT TISSUE PROCEDURES:
*Removing or reshaping gum tissue that traps plaque, or causes pain from tissue overgrowth
*Reshaping uneven tissue heights around teeth to create a more even looking smile
*Removing soft tissue growths like fibromas and hemangiomas
*Gentle removal of swollen tissue caused by medications, systemic disease or poor oral hygiene
LASER TREATMENT FOR SENSITIVE TEETH
*Sensitive teeth can take the pleasure out of enjoying cold beverages and ice cream treats. A dental laser waved over the sensitive area can diminish or eliminate the discomfort. The effects are immediate and no anesthetic is necessary.
LASER TREATMENT FOR COLD SORES AND CANKER SORES
*COLD SORES or fever blisters found on the lip and around the mouth are caused by the herpes simplex virus and enters the body through skin breaks around or inside the mouth. The virus is spread very easily by touching the sore, sharing utensils, and kissing. The warning signs of COLD SORES include tingling, itching, or pain around your lips and mouth, fever, sore throat or swollen glands. After the cold sore appears, it usually breaks open, leaks a clear fluid and then crusts over and disappears after several days to two weeks. For, some people, COLD SORES can be very painful.
*CANKER SORES are small, shallow ulcers that appear inside your mouth (on your tongue, cheeks, or roof of your mouth). Canker sores usually result from stress, tissue injury, eating spicy/acidic foods, or underlying health conditions, nutritional health deficiencies and gastrointestinal tract disease. The warning signs of canker sores include tingling or burning sensation followed by the appearance of round, white or grey sores surrounded by red border. Canker sores can be painful at onset, and start to diminish after several days, healing without treatment in one to two weeks. With a dental soft tissue laser, we can treat both COLD SORES AND CANKER SORES.
Laser Treatment For Pain Relief
Through biostimulation, using light energy, we can relieve the pain by sealing off nerve endings and promoting faster healing. The laser energy destroys the virus that causes the sores. Relief is immediate and profound. And if the sores are treated immediately during the tingling phase, progression of the sores is arrested. Treatment takes just minutes and doesn’t require anesthetic.
Digital impressions
We are proud to offer digital impressions with the Itero Element Digital Scanner and 3 Shape Digital Scanner. Accurate, fast and comfortable, the scanner captures a 3D “impression” or model of your teeth to help us produce better fitting restorations like crowns, bridges, clear aligners, and implant restorations. Our Digital Scanners are:
Daily brushing and flossing may not be enough to keep your smile healthy and stain-free. At DRD Dental, our dental cleaning services are provided by Dr. Diana and her team. Whether you need a regular cleaning or a more extensive periodontal cleaning, Dr. Diana is gentle and sensitive to your individual needs. Give us a call and we will clean and polish your teeth to a spotless bright shine.
Filling
Fillings are the most common type of dental restoration. Teeth can be filled with gold, silver amalgam, ortooth-colored plastic and glass materials called composite resin fillings. Dr. Diana Tolentino prefers to use composite resin fillings to match tooth color for esthetics.
Crowns
A crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over a tooth to restore its shape and size, strength, appearance, to hold a bridge in place or cover a dental implant.
Teeth become discolored by age, tobacco use, certain medications, and staining foods and beverages such as coffee, tea, and red wine. Fortunately, in most cases our office can whiten teeth that have become stained. Using the latest technology, we can now perform a complete whitening procedure in a single office visit. Whether you’re 18 or 81, a bright smile can boost your confidence and make you feel better about yourself.
Although our office will explain the whitening procedure in greater detail, the process is simple. The whitening light activates the whitening solution that is applied to your teeth, making the whitening process fast and easy. After several minutes the light shuts off, the whitening solution is taken off, fresh solution is applied, and the whitening light is turned on again. This may be repeated a few more times. Then the whitening solution is removed completely and you can begin to enjoy your new, brighter smile.
“Ask today to find out if you are a candidate for Lumalite Teeth Whitening!”
Using a Luma whitening system, the entire whitening process takes less than 1 hour. Although not everyone can benefit from tooth whitening (it cannot lighten fillings or crowns, for example), most people with healthy teeth are potential candidates. Your upper and lower teeth are whitened at the same time. Your new smile can help you look younger, healthier, and more vibrant. The results may last for years, depending on your lifestyle. Although whitening teeth has become popular lately, the idea is not new. Over time, many technical improvements have been made and the process has been thoroughly studied and safety-tested.
Straight teeth are important for several reasons aside from cosmetics. True, having straight front teeth is a key factor for a beautiful smile. But, straight teeth are also important for proper health and function. Dr. Diana will not only give you a beautiful smile but she will also address your bite. If your teeth don’t bite down evenly, you can crack or chip the crown or even damage the bone that supports the tooth. We treat crowding, over-bite, under-bite, over-jet, and irregular spacing. This also improves oral hygiene as crooked or overlapping teeth are like a shelter for unhealthy and destructive bacteria.
Interceptive Orthodontics – Early Treatment 90% of the face is developed by age 12. If you want to guide the growth and development of your child’s face, jaw, and profile, you need to treat your child early with functional appliances. Some of the benefits of early treatment include improved nasal breathing, a broader smile, more developed profiles and improved self-esteem. In addition, early treatment can help prevent extraction of permanent teeth, resulting in shorter treatment time in braces, and correct habits such as thumb sucking, and tongue thrusts, which can misshape your smile. The American Association of Orthodontics are recommending children be screened by age 7.
Dr. Diana understands that every patient is unique, with individual needs. The orthodontic treatments and braces we provide begin with our appreciation of your time, and we strive to make sure our service is always prompt and focused on you. We welcome even the fussiest patients, and we can gently handle the most fearful of children as easily as the most experienced adult. Our goal is to make each and every visit a good one, and we do everything we can to ensure that your decision to choose DrD Dental is one you’ll be delighted with for years to come.
